Her 1st husband was John Kohlhepp whom she married on 23 Apr 1852. She married Godfrey Dold on 31 Mar 1877. Both marriages were in Jefferson Co., KY. On her marriage to Godfrey, it appears to say Karoline Kolhepp nee Stolze. Witneses were Johann Cawein, Louisa Cawein, Joseph Kohlhepp and Edward Kohlhepp. When she married John Kohlhepp, her father, John Stelsey, gave his consent in writing and his consent was proved by the oath of John Cawein.

The spelling of her maiden name varies. Louisa Stalsly married John Cawein. Louisa was born in OH as was Caroline. Louisa Cawein is buried in section P lot 443, the same section and plot as Caroline Dold. Louisa is FAG#86869622.

Another marriage record for John Cawein to Luise (sic) shows her maiden name as Staelzele.

The Courier-Journal 4 Mar 1909

"Mrs. Caroline S. Kohlhepp Dold, 75 years of age, one of the most widely-known and beloved residents of Louisville, succumbed to paralysis at 1:10 o'clock yesterday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Louise Erskine, 530 East St. Catherine street. She had been confined to her bed several months and her death was not unexpected.

Mrs. Dold was a native of Ohio, but had been a resident of Louisville sixty-five years. She was formerly Miss Caroline Stelsley. She was twice married. Her first husband was the late John Kohlhepp, formerly proprietor of the Old Walkers Exchange, a noted restaurant and hotel of its day on Third avenue, between Market and Main streets. Her second husband was Fred Dold, a manufacturing jeweler. She was a member of the Lutheran church and was an active church and charity worker. She was formerly president of the German Protestant Orphans Home.

Mrs. Dold is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Erskine, with whom she lived, and Mrs. Emma Worthlin, of Cincinnati; a son, Edward Kohlhepp, a shoe merchant at Indianapolis; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was an aunt of Fred, Madison and Dr. C. L. Cawein, of Lousvillle.

The funeral will be from Maas' chapel, Floyd street and Broadway, to-morrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. The burial which will be private, will be in Cave Hill cemetery."
