Bernard (Benny) J. Ellingson, 73, Northwood, ND passed away Monday, November 21, 2005 at Innovis Hospital, Fargo with his family at his side.
Bernard was born July 7, 1932 at Northwood to Iver and Anna (Wickney) Ellingson and grew up, attended school and worked on the family farm in the Northwood area. He retired from farming in 1997. Benny served in the U.S. Army, was a Korean War veteran and a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion. He also served on the Northwood Township board for several years. Benny will be greatly missed by family and friends. He married Cheryl Feist on June 30, 1956 in Northwood. Benny was a talented wood worker, which was his hobby during his retirement and his works are seen in all the family homes. He also enjoyed hunting with family members and seeing his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl, Northwood, son Jeff (Suzanne) Ellingson, Northwood, daughter Cheri (Robert) Mynheir, Fargo, grandchildren Shannon, Meghan, Jason, Kelly, great grandchildren, Micheala, Paige, Daisy, Chloe, sisters Olga McClure, Rosemead, California, Marilyn (David) Wilson, Albany, Oregon, and brothers Arnold (Edna), Lyle and Curtis, all of Northwood. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Allen, sister Alice, and grandson Jesse.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday, November 25th at 2:00 p.m. in the Evangelical Lutheran Church at Northwood. The Bilden Funeral Home, Northwood.
