Phyllis Witt Long, 87, formerly of Eden, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2022, in Lancaster, SC.

A funeral service will be held at 12 pm Friday, October 7, 2022, at Boone & Cooke Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11 am until 12 pm before the service at the funeral home.

Phyllis was born in Roanoke, VA on March 9, 1935, a daughter of Harvey Nick Witt and Nannie Hancock Witt, both deceased. She was a well-known folk artist. She signed most of her work "Por Phil". A lot of her art can be seen in the Folk Art Gallery in Roanoke, Virginia. Phyllis and her art have been featured in newspaper articles through the years. She was written about in a book called, "Self-Taught, Outsiders and Folk Art".

She was married to Robert Long, who preceded her in death, and lived in Eden. They had six children together, 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Phyllis loved her family dearly!

She is survived by her daughters, Cindy Pettigrew and Curtis McCracken, Betty Price, Robin Sigmon, Kim Kallam, Wendy and John Gray; her son, Robert Long, Jr.; her siblings, Geraldine and Bobby Long, Jack and Nancy Witt, Larry Witt and Jerry Witt.
