According to family history, Ybeltje was born in Bergum, The Netherlands.

From the August 27, 1935 Sparta Herald:

"Mrs. John Brouwer passed away early Friday morning at one o'clock at her home, 305 Merrill street, after a lingering illness of several years duration.

Funeral services were held from her late home Sunday afternoon at two o'clock, the Rev. R. Harold Gee, pastor of the Methodist church officiating. Internment was made in Woodlawn cemetery.

Ybeltje Elsinga was born in Holland on June 30, 1862. She was united in marriage January 30, 1886 in Lexbierum {sic: Sexbierum} to John Brouwer. They arrived in America April 4, 1916.

To this union eight children were born, seven of whom are now living. A daughter, Rinske, preceded her in death five years ago. The others are: Miss Riemkje and Mrs. Dena Deurloo at home, Dirk, Mrs. George (Elsie) Van der Schaaf, Percy and Walter, of Sparta, and Mrs. Theodore (Alice) Udulutch, of Milwaukee. All were present for the funeral. Nineteen grandchildren also survive her."
