She was born in Hubbard, Ohio, and spent her early life in Weirton, W.Va. She moved to Hilton Head Island in 1968 from Albuquerque, N.M., and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.
SURVIVORS: her husband of 55 years, Winton R. Close of Hilton Head Island; four daughters, Leslie Close of Warwick, N.Y., Christine Campbell of Colorado Springs, Co., Joey Baffico of Montclair, N.J., and Barbara Vote of Hillsboro, Ore.; a sister, Betty Stinson of Tryon, N.Y.; and six grandchildren.
