Funeral services for H. C. Albee, father of H. R. Albee, ex-mayor of Portland, who died here early Friday morning, were held at the Finley chapel at 10:30 o'clock yesterday morning, with concluding exercises at Riverview. Dr. Edward H. Pence, pastor of Westminster Presbyterian church, officiated. Mr. Albee was the third white child born in Grand Haven, Mich., and was 79 years old July 9, 1920. His widow and son survive him.
He was captain of company G, 21st Michigan volunteer infantry. In the battle of Stone River he was so seriously wounded that he was unable to re-enter active service. It was said of him that he was greatly loved by his men, and an incident of the Grand Army of the Republic reunion here is cited as illustrative of that, when C. N. Dickinson, who was sergeant in his company, came back to this city from Tacoma on his way east after he learned his former captain lived here. His former commander was at Seaview at the time, and Dr. Dickinson went there to see "Captain Harry," as he affectionately called him.
Mr. Albee had lived in Portland 27 years and was formerly head of the H. C. Albee company, machinery dealers.
