Edward Bancroft, son of John and Elizabeth (Wood) Bancroft, married Mary sellers on May 26, 1840. They were the parents of John S. Bancroft, Anna P. (Bancroft) Coggeshall and Elizabeth (Bancroft) Parrish. The famous artist, Maxfield Parrish, was the son of their daughter, Elizabeth.
