TUSCALOOSA | Walter L. Davis, Jr., age 79, of Tuscaloosa, died October 19, 2014, at Forest Manor Nursing Home. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Friday, October 24, 2014, at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home with Bethe Ensey officiating. Inurnment will take place at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Ala. with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be Friday one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter L. Davis, Sr., and mother, Mary Sue (Jones) Davis.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara A. (Engert) Davis; daughter, Lea A. Davis; and sister, Martha (Davis) Hubbard.
Walter (Walt) Davis was a Marine, a teacher, and an executive for Alabama Power Company. He served his community through his devotion to Civitan International where he was a past International President and helped fund the Civitan Research Center at UAB. He was relieved of duty here on October 19 and assumed his post guarding the streets of heaven.
