Born 24 Aug 1926 to Ethel Acree Sullivan & James Monroe Sullivan in the Cedar Flat community of Metcalfe, Kentucky.

Philip was the younger brother of Rollin "Oscar" Sullivan & Johnny "Lonzo" Sullivan, of the Grand Ole Opry "Lonzo & Oscar" comedy & music duo. Philip was an up & coming country music singer.

Tragically, on 9 Oct 1959, Philip & his sister-in-law, Evelyn Ruth Sullivan, (wife of Rollin "Oscar" Sullivan) were killed in a car wreck while on tour in Wyoming. A drunk driver hit the car they were riding in. His brother Oscar, also involved in the wreck, was hospitalized for five months.

Philip was survived by his wife, Bernice Cline Sullivan, a Gadsden native, & his son, Philip Dale Sullivan.
Burial was in Crestwood Cemetery.
