H.J.Cox 16th Jackson Co Ga. "Center Hill Guards" Co. B Regiment Georgia Volunteers Infantry of Northern Virginia C.S.A. 1St Corporal July 17 1861,Appointed 1st Sargeant. Elected 1st Lieutenant in 1862. Captured at Deep Bottom Virginia Aug. 21, 1864. Released at Fort Delaware June 17, 1865. Information attained from Jackson Co archives military records. Civil War "Centre Hill Guards" Hiram James Adolphus Washington Bushrod Cox and Martha Ann Hill married in Gwinnett Co Georgia May 16,1852. According to H.J. Cox's obit, he's stated as "Major Cox" death and that he's buried at House burying ground. H.J. Cox was in nearly every well known historical and major battle, including Fredericksburg and Gettysburg. He was in the Civil War the entire war.
