Neal Shurson
WALNUT - Neal C. Shurson, 63, of 118 N. Main St., Walnut died Thursday, Feb. 20, 1997, at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton.
Born June 26, 1933, in Adams, Minn., to Harold M. and Carol C. (Knutson) Shurson, he married Kay M. Plapp Oct. 25, 1957, in Adams. Minn. She survives.
He farmed in Adams, Minn., for about 29 years and was a bus driver and mechanic for Walnut and Bureau Valley Schools for the past nine and a half years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Ohio and its church council, Walnut American Legion Post No. 179, Sons of Norway, the Minnesota Pork Producers Association and the VFW in Minnesota. He was a FFA Honorary Chapter farmer, a 4-H leader and a Sunday school teacher at Little Cedar Lutheran Church in Adams, Minn.
Also surviving are two sons and three daughters; one brother, Allen of Walnut; five grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Services will be at 2 p.m. in the First Lutheran Church, Ohio, with the Rev. Lavern Johnson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by the Walnut American Legion Post No. 179.
Visitation was held Friday in the Garland Funeral Home, Walnut, and will be one hour prior to services Saturday in the church.
Memorials may be directed to Bureau Valley School District 340 and the First Lutheran Church of Ohio.
