Hubert Carroll Howard, Colonel, US Army-retired, passed away, Friday, October 24, 2014. Graveside services will be held 10 A.M, Monday, October 27, 2014 at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with full Military Honors. Reverend Tim Willis will be officiating with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 26, 2014 from 4 to 6 P.M. at Ward Wilson Funeral Home.

Carroll attended Seminole County High School in Donalsonville, GA and went onto to excel at Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, GA.

Carroll faithfully served our country from 14 October 1940 – 31 July 1970. His military service during WWII included Morocco, Algeria, Italy and Germany while assigned to Headquarters, Fifth US Army, headquarters, 1st US Armored Division and the Fifth Armored Division, respectively, with various other assignment in the Continental US, Alaska, Panama Canal Zone and Saudi Arabia.

Carroll was a long time member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church, Dothan Elks Lodge 1887 and Military Officers Assn. of America.

Carroll is predeceased by his parents, Joseph Peter and Nellie Brunson Howard, Wives Wylene Hodges Howard, Martha Helen Jones Howard and Daughter Pamela Howard.

Carroll is survived by his sister Nellie Jo Howard (Billy E.) of Donalsonville, GA., children; Joseph E. Howard of Arden, NC, Janet Howard Miserendino (Carl J., Jr.) Roswell, GA, Son in law, William Kirkman of Monument, Co, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
