Enlisted as a Private, Service number 523851 in the C.A.M.C., Canadian Expeditionary Force in Regina, Saskatchewan on 24 Mar 1916. He served in England and France with the 4th C.C.S. and was discharged from the service by reason of demobilization on 12 May 1919 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

He later married and became a pharmacist.
