He played four years of professional baseball with the Milwaukee Braves Farm Team.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter Susan Buckner and a brother Winfred E. Buckner.
He is survived by his wife Lorane Carlson Buckner, one daughter: Kelly L. Buckner of Siler City, one son: Kerry Buckner Jr. of Bonita Springs, FL, three sisters: Myra B. Brady of Siler City, Doris Buckner of Siler City, Peggy B. Kirby of Siler City.
