Funeral services will be held June 5, at the Church of the Nazarene in Willmar. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.
Maxine Marie Monson was born near Breckenridge, MN, the daughter of Ray and Emma (Wait) Rogers. She attended country school and later married Gordon Charles Spencer in 1936. To this union were born five children. Gordon and Maxine moved their family to Willmar in 1942. Gordon died in 1961. She married Peter Harlan Monson in 1963. Throughout her life, she was employed by Central Dairy, Puritan Cafe, Lee-Fuhr Chiropractic Clinic and as a domestic for many Willmar families. Maxine also enjoyed an Avon career for over 30 years. She was a lifelong member of the Church of the Nazarene, where she served on the board, was active in Bible Study and taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years. She was also a member of the Friendly Dozen Club.
She is survived by her husband, Peter H. Monson; three daughters, Doris (and John) Larson, Ruby (and Delmar) Douma, and Janice (and James) Wittman; a son, Larry (and Robin) Spencer; a son-in-law, Robert Masters; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Also survived are five sisters, Gertrude Welden, Erma Bradley, Alyce Schuster, Lola (and Don) Freitag and Eileen (and Harvey) Willprecht of Willmar and two brothers, Eugene Rogers, and Forrest (and Becky) Rogers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Gordon Spencer; a daughter, Charlotte Masters; a son-in-law John D. Ruter; a grandson, Ron Larson; two brothers, Ray and Chauncey and two sisters, Florence Kiser and Edith Peterson.
