Johannes Christian Boetius was born in Copenhagen to Johan Erik Wilhelm Boetius (1800-1869) and Olivia Clarentine Christine Haas (1805-1839). He was christened May 29, 1836, at Trinitatis.

In the 1840 census, when Johannes was four years old, he and his brothers lived with their father at Nørrebro No. 4 in Copenhagen. Their mother had died in 1839. Johannes' sister, Nanna, was living with Vilhelm's sister Caroline.

In 1850, at age 14, he was living at Sankt Peders Stræde 134, Copenhagen.

Johannes married Emmely Elise Jacobsen on December 27, 1861, at the Vor Frue Kirk in Copenhagen.

In 1892, Johannes and Emmely lived at Ravnsborg Tværgade 4, Copenhagen. His occupation at the time was listed as Kgl. Stempelpapirforvalter (document verification / approval). His most significant position was head finance minister.

Johannes and Emmely had five children:

JOHAN HENRIK VILHELM BOETIUS - born June 1 1862 in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen, Denmark; died November 30, 1942 in Copenhagen). Vilhelm was Rector at the Nykøbing Falster Katedralskole. He married Agnes Leontine Wohldt von Holstein (born July 1, 1865 in Copenhagen, died 1945). They had two children: Elisabeth Holstein (born May 9, 1888 in Nykøbing Falster, Falster Sønder, Maribo, Denmark) and Preben Maximilian Holstein (born August 30, 1896 in Nykøbing Falster, Falster Sønder, Maribo, Denmark; died October 23, 1967 in Hasseris, Aalborg).

CAMILLO LUDVIG STAMPE BOETIUS - born July 24, 1864, died in 1920). He married Thora Husmoder Blad (born February 22, 1866; died in 1942). They had three children: Elna Emmely (born August 7, 1890); Camillo Wilhelm (born June 6, 1896 and died July 6, 1896); Holger Stampe (born October 13, 1901).

CARL ALPHONSE HILARIUS BOETIUS (see link below), whose first wife was Karen Margrethe Blad (sister of Thora Blad, who married Carl's brother Camillo). Carl and Karen's son Johannes Christian Boetius was my paternal grandfather.

JOHANNES CHRISTIAN BOETIUS - born December 25, 1872, died March 19, 1873.

LARS JACOBSEN BOETIUS - born January 17, 1882. He married Hertha Magdalene Jensen (born February 2, 1887 in Højlund, Voerladegård, Tyrsting, Skanderborg, Denmark). They had two children: Else Emmely (born 1913) and Jørgen (born 1920).

According to the Copenhagen City Archives and the records of Skt. Thomas sogn, Frederiksberg, Johannes' ashes were interred in the Krematoriat. The crematory was built in 1886, but torn down in 1907 and moved to Bispebjerg.
