FLEMING -- Charles C. Thomas, 80, died Feb. 24 at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah. He was born in Augusta and lived in Liberty County the past 30 years. He was a retired civil service employee of Fort Stewart and also retired as chief petty officer from the Navy with 30 years of service. He was a member of Fleming Baptist Church and the Naval Fleet Reserve.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Sue Thomas of Fleming; a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Bubba Strickland of Fleming; a sister, Francis Reed of Lake George; three brothers, Fred M. Phillips Jr., and Walter and David Phillips, all of Fleming; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL: 2 p.m. Friday at Carter Funeral Home, Oglethorpe Chapel, burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery with full military honors. - Savannah Now, Feb 1999
