Probably the closest we can get to a documentary evidence of birthplace is the place of marriage, Monroe Co., Indiana, where Bloomington, her birthplace, is located.
A biography for her father, Dr. William D. Alexander, notes that he moved "to Bloomington, Indiana, about the year 1820," the same year as Sophia's birth.
