Sioux Falls, SD: Mary Elms, 59, of Sioux Falls, SD died Monday, January 27, 2014 at the Avera McKennan Hospital. A funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley, Iowa. Burial of the cremated remains will be 1:30 p.m., Friday, January 31, 2014 at Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley. Condolences for the family may be left at www.porterfuneralhomes.com.

Mary Jane was born August 10, 1954 in Rock Valley, Iowa to Elmer and Nellie May (Newman) Miller. Mary married Edward Jerome Elms in Selby, South Dakota. After living in South Dakota, she moved to Florida until recently returning back to South Dakota. While living in Sioux Falls, Mary worked at John Morrell. Mary enjoyed playing bingo, making crafts with her grandchildren, and caring for many children over the years.

Mary is survived by her children Sherry O'Brien, James De Haan, and Tanya Worthington all of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; brothers, Elmer 'Larry' Lawrence Miller, Jr. of Tripp, South Dakota and Paul Miller of Hawarden, Iowa; sisters, Marlene Hulstein of Hawarden, Iowa, Helen Ymker of Beresford, South Dakota, and Barb Ymker of Beresford, South Dakota; 6 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
