Mrs. Mathilda Freye,
Resident Of City Many Years, Is Taken At 85
Mrs. Mathilda Freye, 85, widow of the late Henry B. Freye, died at
the Sheboygan Memorial hospital at 10:30 Friday night, following a
short illness.
Mrs. Freye, who had made her home here with her daughter, Mrs. Henry
Wilker for 19 years, has been living with a son, George, in Sheboygan
for the past six months.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at two o'clock at
Emmanuel Evangelical church, the Rev. Wm. C.F. Hayes officiating.
Interment will be in Pioneers' Rest cemetery. The body may be viewed
at the Beduhn funeral home from three o'clock Sunday afternoon until
11 o'clock Sunday morning(sic) when it will be removed to the church.
Born Mathilda Kern in Racine county, Aug. 25, 1861, Mrs. Freye was
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Kern. She was married to Henry B.
Freye in Milwaukee
about 60 years ago, and seven years later the couple
moved to Michigan. In 1897, they moved to Two Rivers. Mr. Freye died
here about 20 years ago.
Following her husband's death, Mrs. Freye made her home with her
daughter, Mrs. Wilker, in this city. When the Wilkers moved to the
town of Two Rivers about a year ago, she went to live with her son in
Sheboygan.
Surviving are five sons, Walter of this city, Samuel of Fort
Atkinson, David of Appleton, George of Sheboygan, and Oscar, a veteran
of World War I, now making his home at the Veteran's home in King,
Wis. Mrs. Wilker is the only daughter.
There are 25 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
One sister, Mrs. Anna Wilker of Milwaukee, also survives.
