Hardin Theater Owner Succumbs
Hardin, Marsh 16. - Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Baptist church in Hardin for H. G. Wells, 63, owner of the Harriet theater here, who died Thursday at 6:30 a.m. in a local hospital of a heart ailment.
Mr. Wells had been in ill health for about three years.
The Rev. C. A. Bentley, pastor of Burgess Memorial church, Crow Agency, will be in charge of services and Masonic graveside rites will be conducted at Custer Battlefield National Cemetery.
Mr. Wells was born in Douglas, Neb., Aug. 6, 1887, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewellyn Wells. He received his education in Nebraska, and attended business college at York, Neb., and the University of Nebraska.
On Jan. 19, 1924, he married Vera Cleland at Glenwood, Iowa. The couple came to Hardin in the fall of 1935.
Mr. Wells was a veteran of World war I, having served overseas for about nine months as a sergeant in the aviation section, signal corps. He worked for the Nebraska highway department for approximately 15 years before coming to Montana.
He was a member of the Presbyterian church at Central City, Neb.; a member of teh Blue lodge, Central City; the consistory, Lincoln, Neb.; shrine at Billings; Veterans of Foreign Wars at Freemont, Neb., and was a charter member of the Hardin Kiwanis club.
Besides the widow, he is survived by a brother, Lee Wells of San Anselmo, Cal.
