DOAN, ALMON MURRY

Known to the world as "Dick" and "Grandpa D"
Born November 9, 1923, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2009 at Saddleback Memorial Hospital. Beloved husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, and patriot. He is survived by his daughter Patricia Okura and son John (Deirdra) Doan; sister Dorothy Moore; brother Robert (Barbara) Doan, grandchildren Kelly (Robert) Conte, Kristen Okura, Kendra (Jeff) Foster, Kortney (Mo) Okura and Bree Ann Doan; great grandchildren Tyler, Chase, Bryan and Kenny Foster and Katherine Conte; and many other relatives. An honorable WWII veteran who received the Purple Heart, he served with the 29th Infantry Division, Cavalry Reconnaissance Troop. He was a Free Mason with the Sunset Lodge #369 for over 50 years. He will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn in Glendale on Monday October 12, 2009 at 3pm with a service in the Little Church of the Flowers followed by a graveside service.
