William Lionel Heap was born on July 23, 1880 at 16 Nile Street in Liverpool, Lancashire, England. His parents were William Heap and Sarah Jane Hall Hanley. The Heaps immigrated to Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada in 1884. In 1886 they moved to Muskegon, Muskegon County, Michigan. Lionel married Mary Altha Robison (daughter of George Francis Robison & Mary Eleanor Keeler. See their memorial pages) on June 28, 1904 in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. He was a manufacturer and mayor of Grand Haven, MI. Lionel died on November 24, 1953 while visiting his sister-in-law in Detroit.

Note: Lionel's maternal grandmother (Emma Hall Hanley), mother (Sarah Jane Hall Hanley Heap), and wife (Mary Altha Robison Heap) are all buried in Block C, Lot 13 of the Lake Forest Cemetery.
