Donald D. Bloechl, 71, died unexpectedly on Tuesday morning May 8, 2001. He was born on March 3, 1930, a son of the George and Eleanore (Scheuermann) Bloechl. Don was a lifelong resident of Oshkosh and was Lutheran by faith. He graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1948 and served in the US Army National Guard.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Beverly I. (nee Rand) of Oshkosh; daughter Jennifer (Michael) Stewart of Minneapolis, Minnesota; a son, Timothy (D'Nelle) Bloechl of Fairfax, Virginia; grandchildren Zachary and Jacquiline Stewart and John Bloechl; brother, Erwin (Bernice) Bloechl of Dubuque, Iowa; sisters Judith Butt of Jacksonville, Florida and Bonnie (Don) Paulus of Oshkosh; sister-in-law Shirley Durkee of Oshkosh and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents and an infant son preceeded him in death.

Don had over 50 years affiliation with the Boy Scouts of America. He was an Eagle Scout, Scoutmaster for Troop 10 of the Twin Lakes Council and later Troop 610 of the Bays Lakes Council, District chairman of the Winnebago District of bays Lakes Council, advisory council members of the Bays Lakes Council and he was awarded the Silver Beaver Award.

He served 33 years on the Oshkosh Police Force starting as a patrolman and culminating as Deputy Chief of Police at his retirement in 1989. Don was the Junior Chamber of Commerce Law Enforcement Officer of the year in 1972 and a 1979 graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. He was a member of the WIsconsin Police Protective Association (WPPA), FBI National Academy Association, First English Golf League and Ducks Unlimited. He chose to be an organ and tissue donor.

A celebration of his life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 11th, at the Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street, the Rev. Ralph Hanusa officiating. Inurnment services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at Ellenwood Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Seefeld Oregon Street Chapel on Friday beginning at 3:00 p.m. memorial contributions may be made for the Oshkosh Humane Society.
