SPRUCE PINE-Paul Richard Jarrett 67 of Jan View Place, died Wednesday, July 3, 2002 in Spruce Pine Community Hospital. He was the son of the late John Jarrett & Bernice Boone Jarrett. He was a member and Sunday School teacher at Rebels Creek Baptist Church. He was also a retired Marine Veteran of the Korean war, and retired equipment manager for J.A.Jones Construction Company, with 40 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Washburn of Spartanburg,SC; a sister Paulette Jarrett McKinney of Spruce Pine, a brother Edward Jarrett of Forest City; and two granddaughters.
Funeral services were held at 3pm Saturday at the Grindstaff Memorial Chapel of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Rev. Wallace Wise officiated. Burial was at the Rebels Creek Cemetery. The family received friends from 1:30 until the service hour Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Mitchell County, PO Box 38, Spruce Pine, NC. 28777.
