Abner B. Dunn was born in Bradford County, Penn., on Sept. 24, 1883; and passed away June 25, 1941, at the Mentone Health Haven, at the age of 57, after a year of failing health. He is survived by his widow, Helen H. Dunn; two sons, Wilbur A. Dunn, of Bishop, Calif., and Robert H. Dunn, of Pomona, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Eunice Campbell, of Downey, Calif.; two brothers, Ernest and Howard Dunn, of Elmira, N. Y.;
and other relatives.
Brother Dunn was the eldest of a family of three sons, and spent his boyhood days on a farm. His mother accepted the Seventh-day Adventist faith when he was thirteen years old, and it was her godly life that influenced and inspired him to prepare himself to be of service to humanity. He desired to attend medical school, and worked on the construction of the Review and Herald building in 1904 to secure funds to start his course. He was graduated from the George Washington University School of Medicine, Washington, D. C., with the class of 1909.
On Dec. 27, 1909, he was married to Helen Haldeman in Indianapolis, Ind., and to this union were born five children, three of whom are living and in the truth. One son is a minister in our work, the other is in his fourth year in our medical college. Doctor Dunn's first position was at the Hinsdale Sanitarium in Hinsdale, Ill., as an assistant to Drs. David and Mary Paulson. He later accepted a call to become medical superintendent of the Kansas Sanitarium at Wichita, Kans. He spent ten years in South Dakota in connection with the Chamberlain Sanitarium and in private practice, and then went to the Nebraska Sanitarium and Hospital in Hastings, Nebr., as medical superintendent. After several years of private practice in Nebraska, he and his family moved to Pomona, Calif., in February, 1934, where he faithfully ministered unto the sick until about a year ago. Our brother sleeps in Jesus.
Funeral services were conducted in Pomona by J. H. McEachern, assisted by B. R. Spear, of Los Angeles. Burial was in Olivewood Cemetery, Riverside, Calif.
