Martha was a member of Mt. Auburn United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include her children, Dr. Marti (Robert) Eicholz of San Diego, and Dr. J. Wesley (Pat) Hertel of Greenwood; grandchildren, Gretchen Beaman of Franklin, Amanda Haase of Franklin, Justin Hertel of Chicago, Robert Eicholz of California, Alan Eicholz of California, Anna Lovell of South Carolina and Emily Semmler of Greenwood; 23 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 77 years, Rev. James W. Hertel (July 2014); sisters, Barbara Hamilton and Juanita Burcham; and
brother, Robert Hine,
Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Mt. Auburn United Methodist Church, 3100 W. Stones Crossing Rd, followed by the Service of Celebration at 4:00 pm.
Martha will be laid to rest at The Gardens at Olive Branch Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to The Mission Fund of Mt.Auburn United Methodist Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to G. H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home, 1605 South State Road 135 and Olive Branch Road.
