GEHMAN DEAD ATCAMP MEADE Death Due to Being; Gassed in Argonne Forest Day Before . Armistice Was Signed. Walter W. Gehman, twenty-two years old, of No. 47 North Jefferson St, died at a base, hospital at Camp VmHp at 4 n Tn vesterday from the affects of gas wounds received in ac tion in the Argonne oresu Mr. Gehman who was a Pvate the medical detachment of the 315th Infantry, saw four months of hard fighting in the western front and was wounded In the Argonne drive by a gas shell on November 10th, the day the Armistice was signed. He returned to this country two months ago and was preparing to come nome vhcn.thA pnd came. His father, Charles Gehman and Dr. J. M. Heim-bach, of Kane, Pa,, went to Camp Meade, on Wednesday to bring him home and were at his Deasme ai me time of his death. Before being drafted into the army on February 22nd. 1918, Mr. Gehman was employed at Knabo s arug sioro, at Third and Hamilton streets, as an assistant pharmacist. He had a large number of frienfls in and about the city who spoke of him In highest terms of praise. He is survived by his parents, Charles J. and Elmlra G. (nee Helm- bach) Gehman. and three sisters: Mrs. William It. Morell, Dorothy and Celia.
