Thurman H. “John” Anderson, 91, of Joplin passed away at his home at 11:55 p.m. Friday, October 31, 2014.
John was born August 2, 1923 in Jane, Missouri. He was the son of Millard J. Anderson and Eva L. “Kimbro” Anderson and was a longtime Joplin resident.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II. John was employed in the grocery business for 42 years in the Joplin area, and continued to work another 20 years after retirement.
He was a member of Community Chapel in Joplin. John was united in marriage to Juanita Smith Washington on January 18, 1966 in Goodman, Missouri. She preceded him in death on March 2, 2008.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at the Ulmer Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at the Ulmer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Park Cemetery.
