Magdalene Wilson, 93, died October 9, 2014. She was born August 22, 1921 on a farm in Waldo, OH to Harry and Lucinda (Beringer) Strine.
The youngest of nine children, she is survived by her sister Helen Good of Hiawatha, KS and sister-in-law Frances Strine of Caledonia, OH.
Magdalene did her undergraduate and graduate studies at The Ohio State University, where she was voted outstanding woman of her class. She taught high school science and physical education. During WWII her summers were spent in a factory making tires for the military. She was devoted to helping people with dyslexia learn to read.
In 1949 she married Dixon Wilson and moved to East Lansing, MI. She is survived by their children: Steven (Sheila), of Douglasville, GA; David of Orlando, FL; D. Mark (Debra) of Chester, MD; and Cathy (Kurt) Hargrove of Lansing, MI; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and many beloved nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the University Lutheran Church in East Lansing, MI. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Magdalene's name to a literacy program of your choice or the University Lutheran Church Choir Scholarship Fund. The family was served by the Palmer, Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Home, Lansing Chapel.
