Martin Helms, Sr., aged 76 of Almyra, died Thursday, September 22. He was a retired farmer and a W W II Army veteran and a member of the Grand Prairie Evangelical Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Pearl Crouch Helms; two sons Martin Helms Jr. Of Wichita, Kansas and Michael Helms of Little Rock; one daughter Sherry Black of Stuttgar; one brother James Otis Helms of Pine Bluff; six grandchildren; one great- grandchild.
Funeral services were Sunday, September 25 at 2 p.m. at Grand Prairie Evangelical Methodist Church. Burial was in the Carlisle Cemetery by Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart.

Gravesite Details

Martin bought four burial plots in Carlisle Cemetery in 1953 after the death of his daughter Mary Frances Helms. Deed was mail to Martin in 1954. Mary, Martin, Pearl Helms in three of the four and the last Patricia Eunice Crouch Spivey is buried.
