Services for Mrs. Shirley Faye Wade Elkins, 81, of Spearsville, were held a 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 21, at Mt. Union Baptist Church near Spearsville, with the Revs. Forrest Post ad Coy Upshaw officiating.
Burial followed in the church cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville.
Mrs. Elkins died Monday, November 20, at Tri-Ward General Hospital in Bernice after a lengthy illness.
She was a lifelong resident of Union Parish and member of Mt. Union Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Wade.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Carl Daniel Elkins, Sr., of Spearsville; five sons, Carl Elkins and wife Elaine of Bossier City, Dale Elkins and wife Doris, Bobby Elkins and wife Elizabeth, Hez Elkins and wife Sunshine and Tom Elkins and wife Pat, all of Spearsville; one daughter, Ruby Kay Misenheimer and husband James of Springhill, one brother, Kenneth Wade of Farmerville, two sisters, Mrs. Lois Porter of Farmerville and Mrs. Thelma Doles of Monroe; 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two special friends...
