Ernest Ronald Maurice Runnacles was born on April 24, 1914, in General Lavalle, Buenos Aires, Argentina, Son of Maurice Arthur Runnacles and of Margaret Helen Runnacles (nee MacFarlane), of General Lavalle, Buenos Aires, Argentine. Ornithologist. He had two brothers and four sisters. He died on September 10, 1942, in Netherlands at the age of 28, P/o. Runnacles was the Observer on Stirling W7630 7 Squadron, which crashed near the Abdij Lilbosch-Echt Holland...

Takeoff at 20:13 hrs local time for an operation to Düsseldorf in Germany.
The aircraft was shot down by the night fighter crew of Hauptmann Wandam & Feldwebel Schöpke of the 3./NJG 1, who were flying a Bf 110 F-4 from Venlo airfield.
Two of the crew were initially buried at Venlo:
