"Martin VanBuren McBee was born at Camden Point, Clay (Platte) County, Missouri, March 10, 1840, and died at the home of his daughter at Fairbury, Neb., March 22, 1928, at the age of 88 years and 12 days. He was the last of a family of seven children.
In 1861 he married Amanda Viola Gandy who preceded him in death, June 3, 1909. To this union were born seven children, four daughter and three sons. On daughter, Mrs. Elmer Pennington, preceded him in death. Surviving are Mrs. Vick Barker of Fairbury, Neb.; Mrs. John Gentry, of Brooking, Ore.; Mrs. John King of Oregon, Mo.; Perry and Jesse of Forest City, and Fred of Holyoke, Colo. Two step-children, Mrs. Ella Brasil of Mound City and Charles Gandy of Bellingham, Wash., also survive. In addition to the above named he leaves 33 grandchildren, a niece, Mrs. Claude Saners of Forest City; a nephew, Earnest McBee of Kansas City, and a host of friends and neighbors.
He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church of Forest City.
Funeral services were held at the M.E. Church at Forest City, Sunday afternoon, March 25, by Rev. W. Logan McGrew of Oregon and burial was in the Forest City cemetery."
