Amanda Viola McBee was born Aug. 10, 1846 and died June 3, 1909, aged 62 years, 10 months and 23 days. December 22, 1873, she was united in marriage to Martin McBee who survives her. Nine children, five boys and four girls also live to mourn her departure.
At the age of 18 she united with the M.E. Church and remained a consistent member until her death. She was a sufferer from the dread disease, consumption, which slowly but surely sapped her life away. Before her death she requested the 23rd Psalm as her text from which her funeral sermon was to be preached. She also selected the songs to be sung, God be With you Till We meet Again, and Home of the Soul.
It is hard to see friends fade from the irresistible attack of disease but when they die in such simple trust in faith fully believing that it was but a step from this life into the better land; when they die in such a faith we should be able to say, "Oh grave, where is they victory, Oh death, where is thy sting." Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Warner at the home after which interment occurred at the Forest City cemetery. We extend our sympathy to the bereaved ones.
