Bette M. (nee Daniel) Garms Landry a longtime resident of Waukesha, peacefully passed away at her home, surrounded by her family, on Monday, September 2, 2013, at the age of 86. Bette was born on June 28, 1927 in Buckman, Minnesota the daughter of Nick and Sophia (Janson) Daniel. She was a graduate of St. John’s Cathedral High School in Milwaukee. Bette worked at the Falk Corporation for over 22 years until her retirement in 1986. Bette was a very active member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Waukesha. She was sacristan of her parish for 15 years before her stroke in 2000. Bette was a Eucharistic minister and lector. She served on the Parish Council, was a member of the Waukesha Catholic Study Club and a member of the Christian Mothers. Bette was a longtime member of the Serra Club and served as President for three years. She enjoyed golfing (taking part in two golf leagues a week up until age 73). Bette also enjoyed reading endless amounts of mysteries on her kindle and never missed a televised Brewer game.

Bette was the youngest of eleven children. She is the beloved mother of Linda (Thomas) O’Mahar, Patrick Garms, Robert Garms, Susan (Joe) Cannella, Jeff (Dawn) Garms, Michael (Ora) Garms, Jill (Mark) Bachhuber, Jack (Lisa) Garms and Julie (Robert) Bell; She is the dear sister of Dorothy Garity and sisters-in-law, Rosemary Daniel, Jean Daniel, Helen O’Connell and Marie Christine Garms. Bette is also survived by her 19 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Rodney and her second husband Howard, her two sons, Daniel and Billy Joe Garms, seven brothers and two sisters.

The visitation for Bette will be held on Friday, Sept. 6, 2013 from 3:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha. The second visitation will be held on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church, 225 S. Hartwell Ave. Waukesha, WI 53186. The Rev. Howard Haase will officiate. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Milwaukee, WI.

In lieu of flowers, masses in Bette’s name are appreciated or memorials are appreciated to St. Mary Catholic Church (see address above).
