Ed Owen Walsh, Jr., 89, of Ben Hill County died Monday, September 3, 2012, at Life Care Center in Fitzgerald, Georgia. Funeral services will be held at 4 PM Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with Brother Greg Gunby and the Rev. Edsel Young officiating. Interment will follow in A. S. Dorminy Cemetery in Ben Hill County. The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Walsh was born February 3, 1923 in Osierfield, Georgia to the late Ed Owen Walsh, Sr. and Thelma Patton Walsh. Mr. Walsh lived in the community all his life where he was a farmer and former employee of Lowell Packing Company. He was a graduate of Fitzgerald High School and a Veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps, where he was a Bombardier. He attended New Bethel Holiness Baptist Church.

He is survived by two sons and daughter-in-laws: John Owen & Lisa Walsh of Eastman and Kenneth L. & Lillian Walsh of Nashville; three daughters and sons-in laws: Bette Nell & Larry Bryant of Eastman, Linda Carol & James Cravey of Fitzgerald and Annette & Bobby Mock of Fitzgerald; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife: Betty Mobley Walsh and infant son; his second wife Gwennell Kimbrell Walsh, one brother: Henry Walsh and three sisters: Edna Joe, Pauline and Lenora.
