Mother: Bridget DONNLEY Birmingham

John Thomas Birmingham was the son of Michael and Bridget Anastasia (Donnely) Birmingham. He was born in 1872 and was buried February 27, 1934. He was a graduate of Christian Brothers High School and Christian Brothers College in St. Joseph, MO., graduating June 28, 1892. While a student there, he was known as an excellent athlete in baseball and quoits.

He married Anna Marie Igoe and they were the parents of John Thomas, Genevieve Bernadette, Helen Josephine, Harold, and Madeline Eileen.

John Thomas was the agent at the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy depot in Napier, Mo., and later held the position of agent at the Forest City, Mo. Depot. They lived in a house built by Andrew Tochterman at 208 Grand Avenue, Forest City, Mo.

They were both very active in St. Patrick's Church and the city of Forest City. John built the fires at the church for the Sunday morning services for years. He was an esteemed member of both the school board and the city council and also served as mayor. His pride and joy was the city park with its many rose bushes that bloomed profusely each summer. Their home was always open to family and friends.

Perhaps John was best described by a contemporary who upon meeting John Hr., remarked, "you will really have to go some to be the great man that your father was."
