William would have died prior to 1860, as his second wife, Elizabeth (Jones) McClure is found widowed in the 1860 Macon County Census. She is living in the home of James E. Mitchell along with his family in the Tennessee Valley Community of Macon County. It's possible he could have died ca. 1857 or so. Elizabeth filed for her widow's pension from William's service during the War of 1812.
