This is my Grandmama, 4 foot 11 inches and full of spunk! She was the sweetest little lady GOD ever put on this earth, but she didn't let you get away with anything. My most favorite memories of her, when I was a child I would go and stay with her and my Granddaddy for a few days when I would wake up in the morning to smell of her cooking, you couldn't stay in the bed the aroma was just to much. She made some of the best biscuits in the world. After that I would play all day with my cousins, there was always some there, running up and down the hall, swinging in the front porch swing of this big screened in porch and going to the little store, Green's Groceries. Life was good!

Grandmama, I thought of you today, but that is nothing new. I thought about you yesterday, and days before that too. I think of you in silence, I often speak your name. All I have are memories and a picture in a frame. Your memory is a keepsake, from which I'll never part. God has you in his arms... I have you in my heart.

Wife of Jerry Levy Shepard Married August 10, 1930
Daughter of Charlie C. Bonds/Gore & Susan F.Hester.
Mother of Harlin, Delthie, Novis, Travis, Marline, Jerry, Wayne, Dianne, Kenny, Elaine.
Grandmother to Mike, Cindy, David, Deborah, Dana, Douglas, Dawn, Dianne, Leigh, Angie, Sheila, Susan, Johnny, Jeffrey, Jeanie, Timmy, Eddie, Kimberly, Charlie, Michelle, Leslie, Lori, Tammy & Jay.
Great Grandmother to more the 50.

The night before my Grandmama's funeral, I was looking for something that would help me understand, why? I think what I found was a poem that I felt like she was talking to me, telling me that she loved me and was going to miss me as much as I loved her and as much as I was going to miss her.

I'm Free

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free
I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard him call,
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work, to play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way.
I found that place at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Ah yes, these things, I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full. I savored much.
Good friends, good times,
a loved ones touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all to brief,
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me
God wanted me now, He set me free.
