Mr. Glissmann farmed in Lincoln and Layton Townships of Pottawattamie County until 1947 and moved to Atlantic in 1976.
The son of Fred and Emma Rathjens Glissmann, he was born Dec. 29, 1894, in Pottawattamie County and was married to Nora L. Linkletter in Council Bluffs Dec. 12, 1917. He was a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church here.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Wilbert (Hazel) Henningsen, Mrs. Clifford (Dorothy) Beckendorf and Mrs. Ethel Wood, all of Walnut, and Mrs. Vernon (Jeraldine) Karstens of Avoca; also seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a grandchild, Don Karstens; his parents; a brother, Jack Glissmann; two sisters, Anna Manke and Helen Glissmann.
Funeral services were held on February 17, 1987 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Atlantic, Iowa. (Atlantic News-Telegraph, Monday, February 16, 1987, p. 1)
