Albert J. Tognarelli, 88, of Collinsville, Ill., born Sunday, May 30, 1926, in Collinsville, Ill., passed away at 7:11 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Ill. Al passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife of nearly 67 years and his family. He was the owner and operator of the Shell, Mobile and the Phillips 66 service stations in Collinsville for over 40 years. Al was the Collinsville Township Clerk and he ran the Collinsville Senior Citizens center for over 20 years. After retiring at the age of 77, he and Rosalie enjoyed traveling extensively their favorites being the cruises they shared together. He was in the 11th Airborne Division serving in the U.S. Army mostly in the South Pacific. Al received numerous awards and commendations for his service to the country. He also belonged to many organizations in Collinsville, a few being the Knights of Columbus, American Legion and the Collinsville VFW.He was preceded in death by his parents, Italo and Leda, nee Bastioni, Tognarelli; and a son-in-law, Sam LaFrank. Surviving are his wife, Rosalie, nee Brogliatto, Tognarelli, whom he married on Jan. 10, 1948; son, Richard (Gail) Tognarelli of Troy, Ill.; daughter, Annette LaFrank of Maryville, Ill.; sister, Lola Wrigley of Collinsville, Ill.; brother, Leo "Pete" Tognarelli of Collinsville, Ill.; four grandchildren, Amy LaFrank of Greenville, S.C., Lisa Bossetto and her husband Christopher with their children, Hunter and Sydnee of Collinsville, Ill., Michael Tognarelli of Houston, Texas, and Matthew Tognarelli of Collinsville, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews and very dear friends.In lieu of flowers the family wishes for memorial contributions be made to the Collinsville Senior Citizen Center. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, Collinsville, Ill.
