of Media passed away peacefully at Riddle Hospital surrounded by her friends and family on November 1, 2014.
She was born 1953 in Philadelphia to William B. and Bennett M. Cope.
She was a graduate of Sun Valley High School and Penn State University being one of the first people with disabilities to mainstream in public education.
Ann worked the information desk at Linvilla Orchards for a time.
She then went on to establish Quincy’s Gift Shop in Media in 1986 to which she remained owner until present.
Ann went on to establish Freedom Valley Disability Center (a center for Independent living serving people with disabilities) in 1992 where she resided as director.
Ann was faithful in her commitment to helping those in the disabled community.
Ann was appointed by the governor to serve on the state wide independent council and was past president of the Pennsylvania Council of Independent Living.
Ann is survived by her mother, Bennett M. Cope;
fiancé, Mike Burke;
uncle, N. Banks Spence; two aunts, Silvia Pickens and Irene Morton; cousins and their spouses Kassandra Spence, Tom Dutton, Patrick Spence, Yu Kazawa, Rebecca and Jeff Hinkley, also survived by the disabled community at large as well as very close family friends.
Ann is preceded in death by her father William Cope, maternal grandparents Nevitt B. and Florence Spence and paternal grandparents Robert and Amy Cope.
