Betty Ellen Stimpert Garland, 66, died at her home in the early morning hours of Friday, November 7, 2014, of natural causes related to small cell carcinoma (lung cancer).

Born December 10, 1947, to Charles and Bertha Eda Kyar Stimpert in Sleepy Eye, MN. She went to high school in Apache Junction, AZ.

Betty moved to Temple, TX, when she was 18 years old where she met her husband, John Newton Garland, and they were married on February 25, 1966.

She was self-employed most of her life, owning Garland's Cleaners then later the Funny Farm Costume Shop, both in Temple, TX.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 37 years in June of 2003, her brother, Terry D. Stimpert in September of 2014, her nephews, Danny Stimpert in 1982 and Bradley Holweger in 2012; her nieces, Melinda Stimpert in 1977 and Melissa Matter in 2002.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Betti E. Garland Gardner and her husband, Mark J. Gardner, and three grandsons, Grant J. Gardner, Wyatt J. Gardner, and Dylan D. Gardner. She is also survived by three brothers; James (Rose) Stimpert, John (Ruth) Stimpert, Gregory (Jean) Stimpert; two sisters; Judy (Dennis) Holweger and Phyllis K. Stimpert (Deborah Wall); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
