Lt. Col. Gary C. Morgan, 65, of Tallassee, passed away May 22, 2014. He was born December 31, 1948.
He is survived by a daughter, Sarah (Jake) Hill; two granddaughters Meredith and Cadence; sister Diane (Mike) Parcell; and niece Natalie Parcell.
Col. Morgan honorably served his country in the Air Force for over 22 years, retiring in 1997 after achieving the rank of Lt. Col. Since his retirement, Col. Morgan instructed hundreds of young officers attending the Squadron Officer College. His work in navigation simulation design has helped to teach many officers from both the US and allied countries. The designer of war games, Col. Morgan received several awards for his development of a game called Tac-Air. Col. Morgan was also recognized for assistance by many authors, including Larry Bond, for his help in research for novels.
Col. Morgan received a Meritorious Service Award with one oak leaf cluster, AF Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster, AF Achievement Medal, AF Organizational Excellence Award with one leaf cluster.
