Leonard O. Ackerland, 94, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2010 at the VA Medical Center in Boise, Idaho with family by his side. He was born in Walsh County, North Dakota to John and Bertha Ackerland. Leonard was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; four brothers, Edward, William, George, and Melvin; and four sisters, Cora, Gene, Irene, and Norma. He is survived by a sister, Blanche Sherek of Fargo, North Dakota and a stepdaughter, Dorothy Mae Press of California; and many nieces and nephews. Leonard will be greatly missed.
A viewing will be Thursday, July 29, 2010 from 6-9 p.m. at Summers Funeral Homes, 1205 W. Bannock Street, Boise. Graveside services will be at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, July 30, 2010 at Canyon Hill Cemetery in Caldwell, Idaho.
