Martha Bruse, 98, Valley City, N.D., died Monday, September 6, 2004, at Sheyenne Care Center, Valley City.
Martha Marie Alber was born May 20, 1906, near Litchville, N.D., the daughter of Gustav and Ida (Oldenburg) Alber. She grew up and attended school near Litchville.
She married Adolph Bruse on March 28, 1927, in LaMoure County, North Dakota. They farmed near Litchville for many years. They moved to Valley City in 1957. He died January 31, 1993. She entered Sheyenne Care Center in July 2004. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and the church circle. She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, dancing and her coffee group. She is survived by a daughter, Judy (Robert) Bowen, Valley City, two daughters-in-law, Ardy Balk, Worthington, Minn., and Dolly Hoelmer, Valley City; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sons, two daughters, six brothers and three sisters.
Services: 2 p.m. Thursday, Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Valley City, with the Revs. Mark Ostgarden and Paul Huso officiating.
Prayer Service: 7:30 p.m. today, Petrson-Johnson-Schuldt Funeral Home, Valley City.
Burial: Memory Gardens Cemetery, rural Valley City.
