MRS. LAWRENCE (ANNA BELLE) MURDOCK, 78, passed away April 10, 1978. Resident of Houston for 70 years. Member First Presbyterian Church, Auxiliary of Plumeco.
Survivors: Daughter, Mrs. Claribel Blackburn, Houston; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren.
Services 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 1978. Settegast-Kopf Chapel, Rev. Joseph O. Rand, Jr., officiating. Interment Hollywood Cemetery.

Anna Belle was the daughter of John J Whitley and Leonora Carr. Her siblings were Lillian, James R, and John J Whitley Jr.
Sadly, Anna Belle was widowed three times in her life. Her first marriage was to Clarence Wilford Hurd Junior. They were married in Harris County, Texas on July 26, 1920. A daughter, Claribel Whitley, was born to the couple.
Following the death of Clarence, Anna Belle then married Mike Saleo in Harris County, Texas, on December 12, 1928. He died January 5, 1934.
Anna Belle lastly married Lawrence Mitchell Murdock in Houston, Texas, on October 27, 1936. This entry in a remembrance, written in June of 1998, of Lawrence was made by his niece, Jane Murdock Snaidas: "When Lawrence settled in Houston he was living with a real sweetheart of a woman named Annabelle. Somehow his mother got wind of the arrangement. She took action by simply writing Lawrence a letter expressing her desire to visit him in Texas. No sooner said than done but by the time she arrived, Lawrence and Annabelle had gotten married. And his mother was secretly pleased."
They lived together happily in Houston until Lawrence's death in 1962.
