RECENT DEATHS.
Ross.
Mrs. Charles Ross died at her home on Lafayette street, Jan. 18th.
Addle J. Pierce was born at Hartland, Feb. 8, 1838 the only child of
Harry and Judith Day Pierce. Her father died in Hartland in 1840 and
later her mother married Wm. Washburn, who was the only father she
ever knew. They later moved to Enfield, N. II., where she received her
education. She taught school in both Enfield. N. H., and Hartland. May
2. 1860, she was married to Wm. J. Marden at Springfield, N. H., and
moved west. Mr. Marden died in Mich., Jan. 22, 1883 leaving beside
his widow one daughter, Nellie Marden, (Mrs. Albert Higgins). She came
to her home soon after his death. At St. Johnsbury, March 28, 1889,
she was united in marriage to Chas.Ross of Waterford and they made
their home there until 15 years ago, when they came to their present home
on Lafayette street. Mrs. Ross has been in poor health for some time
and for the past five weeks was a great sufferer. Mrs. Ross was a member of
the South church. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Albert Higgins, one
grand-daughter, Mrs. Howard Harris, a half sister, Mrs. Lucy Washburn Hovey
all of this place. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1 p. m., the Rev. Paul
D. Moody officiating.
