OBITUARY:
Merle F. Guist, age 82, of Canton, died Wednesday in his home. He was born in Appollo, PA, and a resident of Canton most of his life. Merle was a highly decorated Army Veteran of World War II with tours of duty in Northern Africa and Europe including Normandy, France and D Day. He was a member of North Canton Eagles Aerie #2223, D.A.V., and former owner of Guist Trucking. Survived by loving wife, Jane, of the home with whom he celebrated their 60th Anniversary, October 3; daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy Guist and Jack Katusin of North Canton, and Debbie and Charlie Lindsey of Canton; grandchildren, Tana and Nat Wackerly, Brock Lindsey, and Alicia Lindsey; sister, Alice Kaiser of Canton, and Mary Fonner of Canton; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Harry and Ryllis Guist of Canton. Preceded in death by parents, Frank and Mae Guist; and brothers, George and Clarence Guist; granddaughter, Nikki Domer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Michael's Catholic church with Fr. Bradford Helman officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Friday (TONIGHT) at Karlo-Feucht Funeral Home, 5000 Everhard Rd. NW from 6-9 p.m. with an Eagles service at 5:45 p.m.
